Soon, the people of Merida will know the exact schedules and routes of public transport buses in the city, as the Institute of Mobility and Urban Development Territorial (IMDUT) announced that it will launch a mobile application to improve the service and quality of urban transport, and that it will be more efficient, since it will be possible to have an analysis of the routes, know where they are needed or where to modify, where there is more influx of people and also control the times of the units.
This new application seeks to reduce waiting times and users can know at what point the transport unit will arrive on its route, as announced by Aref Karam Espósitos, head of the unit.
Although he did not give an exact date, the official indicated that by the end of this year there will be a digitalization model that will allow, through the apps, users to access information about their routes, including times and stops from a mobile device.
In the first phase, some routes of the city would be integrated with software and hardware capable of supporting the platform’s requirements, such as the exact location of the bus on the route, he explained.
The agency declined to provide more details of the project.
