The beauty of Guanajuato arrives in Merida

The state of Guanajuato greeted more than 11,600 Yucatecans during the event “Visit Guanajuato” Mérida.

The Direction of Marketing and Public Relations of the Secretariat of Tourism of Guanajuato carried out “Visita Guanajuato” in the commercial center La Isla Mérida from May 24 to 26, in order to commercialize and promote the tourist industry of the entity.

This activity was attended by producers: Cerveza Genaro Roque, Cajetas La Reyna, Dulces la Tradicional de Salgado, Dulces Goyita, La Perla Del Bajío Beer, Corralejo Tequila, Caprichos; also present were craftsmen of the leather goods “Akarenni”, the Estudiantina of Guanajuato, and members of the Colectivo la Octava Noche and Carpets of Uriangato.

All of them belong to the municipalities of Leon, Celaya, Irapuato, San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo Cradle of National Independence, Silao, Guanajuato, and Uriangato.

During the three days, the Yucatecan visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the traditions of Guanajuato and were participants in the show of La Estudiantina, the karaoke of José Alfredo Jiménez; and they appreciated the carpet of flowers made by rugs from Uriangato and members of the Colectivo la Octava Noche.

The tequila tastings and the gastronomic workshop to display the traditional “Guacamaya de León”, was a success among the attendees from the Yucatán.

The Yucatecans received information about the state of Guanajuato, in terms of experiences (activities and tourism products), hotels and flights, taking advantage of the 2-hour air connection with flights between Yucatan and Guanajuato.

With the event “Visit Guanajuato” the producers shared what they do in Guanajuato; the products that stand out are the delicious Cajeta de Celaya and its typical sweets, jams and liqueurs made with strawberries from Irapuato, sales of Tequila Corralejo de Pénjamo, and Dolorense wine.

A sale of $179,957 pesos was achieved during the event. In addition, the Ministry of Tourism had a business meeting with 5 event organizers; and 22 travel agencies, 8 Media, and 5 assistants from the Secretariat of Tourism Development (SEFOTUR) were introduced to the destination.
